Dear Fellow Rotarians & Friends,

We are approaching this new hurricane season which runs from June 1st through November 30th.

Therefore, it is the time to review your storm plan with your family in order to ensure preparedness in the event of an approaching hurricane. The Miami Herald, Sun Sentinel and Publix Supermarkets publish complimentary information pamphlets with guidelines that you will find beneficial in your efforts to ready yourself, loved ones and home. Furthermore, we have enclosed for your review the “Hurricane Planning Tips for Homeowners” and we hope this document will be helpful to you. You can also find additional tips on the City of Weston’s Hurricane Preparedness page by visiting the following link:

Residents need to ensure that all sliding glass doors and windows are properly secured; and must remove all loose items from your front and backyard patio, as these may become projectiles in high wind conditions, causing severe damage.

It is imperative that you plan ahead; as management will be geared toward securing the common area during the storms approach and we will not have the ability to offer assistance to individual residents. Moreover, all staff will have to be dismissed within a reasonable period prior to the storm’s arrival.

For residents that are in any way disabled or utilize the services of a care giver, we recommend that you review all your options and visit http://www.broward.org/atrisk which has an abundance of information on ways you can prepare to stay safe in the event of a storm. We have also included in this packet how you can register with the Vulnerable Population Registry.

Because basic emergency services tend to be limited during and immediately after a storm, we would like to impress upon all residents, once again, to get prepared.

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter and remember, having a plan in place will protect you and your property.

Sincerely,

President John Cross
